Opportunities for fun in the sun abound in Las Cruces, NM. Check out these sizzling summer activities in the region.

1. Music and Movies in the Park

The Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department unveils a whole new roster of incredible performers every year for its Music in the Park summer concert series. Talents representing various music genres (from country to jazz to mariachi) show off their stuff each Sunday night at 1905 E. Nevada Ave.’s Young Park from early June to late August.

And for a perfect family night out, join other community-goers at Young’s Movies in the Park. On various summer Saturdays, movie buffs grab their blankets and lawn chairs and head to the park to enjoy current and past family favorite movies under the clear night sky. Food vendors are also on-hand for all your snacking needs.

2. Fourth of July Celebration

Las Cruces hosts one of the biggest and best odes to Independence Day in the state. This combination concert, fireworks display, and parade kicks off with an awe-inspiring Electric Lights Parade on July 3. This spectacle is a site to behold on its own, but the fun’s not over. The Fourth begins with a free concert at venues such as the Field of Dreams Stadium at 1601 Bruins Lane and Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park at 3205 Arrowhead Drive.

Major headliners rock the night away, leading up to the big event: a fireworks extravaganza to remember. Drive home in a ride to remember with Buick’s latest auto juggernaut: the Envista. This coupe-like crossover fires out of the gates with eye-popping colors befitting the beautiful New Mexico landscape, such as Copper Ice and Sunrise Red Metallic, along with a plethora of fanciful features that include a striking moonroof and an ultrawide infotainment system.

3. Farming and Ranching Fun

The Las Cruces borderlands are part of a deep and wonderful ranching and farming legacy in southern New Mexico. Summer’s the ideal time to celebrate this history with visits to two top attractions. The Farmers & Crafts Market of Las Cruces has been gifting visitors farm-fresh seasonal produce and breakfast, lunch, or dinner food vending options (from Mexican to grass-fed meats) for the past five decades. Locally made crafts and live music are also featured treats.

Altogether, over 300 merchants ply their trades Saturdays and Wednesdays on downtown Main Street. And for an interactive and intimate glimpse of living history come to life via blacksmithing, quilting, livestock demonstrations, and more, visit 4100 Dripping Springs Road’s 47-acre New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum. During July’s Summertime on the Farm, the action really heats up with special events like a bicycle parade, scavenger hunt, plant sale, and ice-cream making.
